Why do you think films or movies have an impact on society? Which film or movies has impacted or moved you and why?
I think that the films or movies have an impact on society because each film have different morale stories, different setting of the movie will gives different impact on the people and the ways of the people looks at the movie. Because sometimes the morale stories from the films or movies have impact on the people who watch it, for example the movie, Happy Feet, Mumble the penguin from Scotland told his tribe that there’s alien aka the humans that cause the fish becoming lesser. And ask them to find out what happen towards the fish. His tribes ask him to leave the tribe because he had did something that disgrace his tribe that is dancing and his tribe elders think that he is a bad omen. This reflects as there’s people who will abandon their child when they found something wrong with them. Another movie would be I Not Stupid, the setting of the story influenced the society on how they thinks on the studies environment, education systems in Singapore is high as they puts it as a top priority where’s student that are talent and had the ability to studies will be place in the Express stream whereby those that can’t studies well but have the ability of drawing or other talents that weren’t recognize by the teacher will be place in the Normal stream or EM3. Just like Kok Pin who is talent in drawing but his talents weren’t recognizing by the teacher and his parents, they wants him to concentrate in his studies.
The film that has impacted or moved me would be World Trade Centre because the story is based on the true stories of September 11, 2001 where’s the terrorist attacks World Trade Centre, Pentagon and Washington D.C. The story is more towards the World Trade Centre, how the police at New York receive the calls that there would be a terrorist attack and they think that it was a prank until the police went out for their rounding’s. When the first airplane hits the Tower 1, the police start to evacuate to the police station to have a briefing on which police would be helping the New York Firefighter to evacuate the people from the buildings. The sad part would be that when there’s 2 police trapped underneath the building and trying to survive the horror and waits for people to come and rescue them. They tried to keep each other awakes and not falling asleep. They keeps reminds each other that they have family back there and they are waiting for them. There’s also a part where the families member of the 2 police being told that their husbands, and father of their child probably died or trapped underneath the towers. They never stop to believe each other that their father and husbands are still alive. How it impact me is that the people always have faith that their love ones still alive and haven’t died. Friendships are hard to find, unlike nowadays, people tend to treat the friendship as nothing and do believe that friends would abandon you when there’s something happen in our lives that would cause. We should always conscious about things happen around us and we should take it as a prank call when there are people who tell us that there’s a terrorist attacks happen.
