What is reality in your life? Do you feel that the pervasiveness of the media has blurred what is real in your life and what is not? Give reasons for your answer.

Reality means to me is something that actually exists or happens which is everything that actually does or could exist or happen in real life. Just like the reality television show, this show are being scripted and directed by the people behind the crew.

Yes, I do think that the pervasiveness of the media has blurred the meaning of real in my life because in reality show, all the actors and actress are given script to read and what they are going to say in the show so that they won’t says anything offensive towards the audience. For example the reality show about the Simple Life, Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie going to different country and house to stay for a week or a month to get use to the lifestyle of non-rich people lifestyle. Amazing Race, it’s a really 100% scripted reality show. Once the couple forgotten their lines in the ending of the Amazing Race show, there’s people who actually uploaded at the youtube for the people to watch the behind the scenes. From that moment, now I only know that all the reality shows are scripted. Another example would be Pimp my Ride, when the shows ended they show behind the scenes, Exibits did miss his lines so does the people being filmed for the show. I don’t understand why must they faked the show, can’t they let the audience knows that they aren’t a scripted show.

A reality shows that not scripted and doesn’t change my view on reality would be the home décor, a reality show being shown on discovery travel and leisure. This reality show is about a group of home designer goes to the home of people who write in to their shows website, they want them to help them to re-decorate their house. This is a real reality show that wasn’t scripted and doesn’t have to read off the script. When ones show that wasn’t scripted is the best reality shows because they weren’t going to follow what the director or the producer or the scriptwriter. They did what they feel and want in their shows and what the audience really wants to see by not what being scripted.
